Description: The Map Shop is a family run, brick and mortar store in Charlotte, NC. Tony from The Map Shop states, “They opened in 1991 and have shipped over 250,000 maps that help customers plan new adventures or connect to the memories of the places that they love.
The Map Shop carries tens of thousands of travel and wall maps in multiple styles in addition to location based gifts, globes, flags, and travel accessories. They can also create custom maps for anything from business territory planning or personalized art to decorate your spaces with your favorite places.”
Technologies Used: Tony continued, “We use ZenDesk for customer services and ShipStation for fulfillment and shipping. Both apps are used on an hourly basis and improve efficiency. We use SumoMe to grow our mailing list and MailChimp to send our email campaigns. ShopSite is the ecommerce cart we use on the site.”
Advice / Tips: Tony finished, “You can’t beat having a group of like-minded people around you to bounce ideas off of. I’m a member of eCommerceFuel, a focus exclusively for ecommerce operators. It’s my first stop for questions and despite being a small group, you’ll get pages and pages of answers from those who have done it. I also have a local group of store owners and we grab a beer monthly and check in with each other. There is no selling or networking happening in these groups, each person has the goal to help someone else’s business before they leave, and the advice is invaluable.”
